Why Windows May Show "Run Anyway"
When you download and run the BordQ installer, Windows may show a dialog that says "Windows protected your PC." This is a Windows SmartScreen warning, not a virus detection. SmartScreen shows this for any executable that doesn't yet have enough reputation data from Microsoft, regardless of whether it's safe.
Why this happens
Microsoft's SmartScreen filter builds reputation for signed executables over time based on download volume. New software, even when properly code-signed, starts with low reputation and triggers this warning. It is not a security alert — it means the app is new or not yet widely distributed, not that it is malicious.
Is it safe to click Run Anyway?
Yes. BordQ is a legitimate Windows application. The installer is code-signed, and the warning is a routine SmartScreen reputation notice. Click "More info" first to see the publisher name, then click "Run Anyway" to proceed with the install.
Steps
- Click More info on the SmartScreen dialog.
- Verify the publisher name shown matches BordQ.
- Click Run Anyway.
