- Install BordQ and expose both VB-Cable endpoints
Install BordQ on Windows and let its audio-driver setup finish. Restart Windows if CABLE Input and CABLE Output do not appear in the device lists.
CABLE Input is the playback endpoint BordQ sends to; CABLE Output is the recording endpoint the destination hears.
- Build one clean mic-and-clip mix
In BordQ Audio Setup, select the physical microphone as Microphone Input and VB-Cable Input as Virtual Cable (Output). Trigger a short, normalized clip and confirm the BordQ and Windows recording meters move.
Leave headphones as the playback device. Do not route the destination output back into the cable.

In the intended scene collection, add Sources > Audio Input Capture and select CABLE Output, or select it once under Settings > Audio > Mic/Auxiliary Audio. Disable the duplicate global or scene source if both meters move for one trigger.
OBS warns that capturing the same audio device globally and in a scene can cause echo; one active source should own the endpoint.
- Set monitoring, filters, hotkeys, and tracks deliberately
Leave Audio Monitoring off unless you need a short headphone check. Start without speech-only noise suppression or aggressive gates, assign collision-free BordQ hotkeys or native Stream Deck actions, and confirm the source is enabled on the live and intended recording or VOD tracks.
Monitoring and output can create a delayed duplicate when the monitor device is also captured by Desktop Audio.
- Record locally, then run a private Twitch test
Record speech, the quietest clip, the loudest clip, a mute, and a scene change. Watch for peaks, listen on another device, then run a short test stream and verify both live playback and the saved VOD route before announcing the setup.
A local recording proves the OBS mix; a second-device stream check proves the encoder, platform path, and viewer result.

Most doubled or missing Twitch sounds come from the mixer after VB-Cable.

Fix a Twitch soundboard that is silent, doubled, or in the wrong place
Follow the signal from left to right and change one setting at a time. A local monitor is useful, but only a remote listener proves the final channel.
- CABLE Output shows no recording activity — Return to BordQ and confirm Virtual Cable (Output) is VB-Cable Input. Check Windows microphone privacy permissions, driver installation, device mute, and the BordQ output meter.
- The meter moves, but listeners hear nothing — Confirm the CABLE Output source meter moves in OBS, unmute the source, check fader gain, remove an aggressive gate, enable the correct stream track, and verify the scene containing the source is active.
- Listeners hear themselves or a delayed duplicate — Incoming audio is entering the cable, or speakers are feeding an open physical microphone. Use headphones, remove loopback or monitoring routes, and monitor the BordQ mix in only one place.
- The live stream hears the clip, but the VOD does not — The source is probably excluded from the selected Twitch VOD track. Open Advanced Audio Properties, verify its track assignments, and check the OBS Twitch VOD Track configuration without duplicating the source.
Questions to settle before using it live
Which microphone should Twitch use?
Twitch itself receives the encoded mix. In OBS or your streaming app, choose CABLE Output as an Audio Input Capture or Mic/Aux source exactly once.
Can I keep speaking while a clip plays?
Yes. BordQ mixes the selected physical microphone and clips into CABLE Output. Balance clip gain below normal speech and use ducking or short clips when intelligibility matters.
Why can I hear a clip that nobody else hears?
Local monitoring proves only the playback side. Check CABLE Output activity, the destination input, active channel, mute or push-to-talk state, permissions, and a remote listener.
Should my microphone and soundboard be one OBS source?
One source is simpler and is the recommended starting point. Use separate sources only when you need independent filters or tracks, and remove the physical mic from BordQ so speech is not captured twice.
Is a soundboard allowed here?
Use only audio you are entitled to broadcast, normalize loud effects, protect headphone users, and never use misleading alerts, hate speech, copyrighted recordings without permission, or sounds designed to harass chat.
